“Look outside,” Mom says. Tom and Floor run to the window. “It snowed!” says Tom. “Can we go outside?”.
“Of course,” Says Mum. Come on, let’s put on your coats. Tom and Floor go down the hall and put their coats on.
Tom can do it himself, but Mommy has to help Floor. “So,” mom says. “Coat on, scarf on and mittens on.”
The kids already want to run outside, but Mom’s stopping them. “Don’t you forget something?” she asks with a laugh.
Tom and Floor look at her in amazement. Forget something?
“Look at your feet,” Mom points out. “Oops, completely forgotten,” says Tom, quickly unpagging his boots.
After a few minutes, the children stand outside in the snow, while Mom takes the sled out of the barn. Floor sits on the sled and Tom tries to pull the sled forward. But I can’t. “Mommy, will you help me?” says Tom. “Of course,” mum says, grabbing the rope attached to the sled. Tom soon sits down on his sister’s sled and Mom starts pulling. “Faster, faster,” the kids shout, and Mom starts running. After a while, Mom gets tired of running hard. “Shall we make a snowman?” she says. Tom and Floor think that’s a great idea.
The three of them are going to make a big snowball. This is the belly of the snowman. Now they’re going to make another snowball. Mom puts the ball on the snowman’s belly. “Is he done now?” asks Mum.
“No,” says Tom. He still has eyes, nose and a mouth.” They’re looking for two pebbles, and they’re putting them in the head. These are the eyes.
They also turn pebbles into a mouth. “Actually, we should have a carrot to make the nose,” says Mum, “but I don’t have a carrot. How are we going to make the nose?”. The kids are thinking. “I know,” Tom says. We could use a stick.” “That’s a good idea. You guys go look,” Mom says. Floor runs away and comes back a little later with a big stick. Mum laughs and says, “No Floor, this one’s too big.”” Floor throws the stick away and goes looking for another one. Tom is also busy looking. Floor finds a small branch and it is put in the snowman. “So, now he’s got a nose.” Mom’s getting a scarf and a hat out of the house. “So, she says, while she puts the snowman on the scarf, now he doesn’t get cold.”” She puts the hat on his head and says ‘is the snowman ready now’?
Tom’s thinking. At school he colored a coloring page of a snowman and he also had a broom. “He’s got another broom to go,” he says.
“That’s it, says Mum, get the broom out of the barn.”
Moments later, Tom arrives with the broom. Mommy’s holding the broom in the snow.
Floor dances around the snowman and says “Done!!”. The snowman has become very beautiful, but Tom and Floor have gotten cold hands. Mom says they’re going in. When the coats and boots are off, Mum puts on their nice hot slippers and goes to the kitchen to make hot chocolate.
What about Tom and Floor???? They stand in front of the window and look proudly at their beautiful snowman.
